Chris Des Rosiers receives Dean鈥檚 Convocation Medal
As one of SFU's most outstanding graduate students from the Beedie School of Business, Chris Des Rosiers is recognized with the Dean of Graduate Studies Convocation Medal. On behalf of SFU, we congratulate Mr. Des Rosiers on his outstanding achievements.

For his master's capstone, Chris Des Rosiers studied accounting with cognitive analytics, focusing on how to more broadly and impactfully deploy Generative AI in a professional accounting firm. Des Rosiers collaborated with two peers at the firm to propose a visual playbook delivery method of tailored prompts which had a significant impact on shaping industry best practices and positioning him as a though leader in the field of audit analytics.
Beyond academic excellence, Des Rosiers is a trailblazer in innovation and applied research, as exemplified when the team he led in the Innovation Competition won first place for their groundbreaking work on his master鈥檚 capstone project, Few-Shot Prompting: A Deep Dive into the Power of Clara Al Chat.
This project successfully bridged the gap between artificial intelligence capabilities and real-world auditor proficiency, which is a critical gap in public accounting. Under Des Rosiers' leadership, his team developed a templated playbook for leveraging generative AI in auditing鈥 significantly enhancing audit quality, efficiency, and decision-making.
Des Rosiers achieved a 4.25 GPA for his master's studies (amongst the highest CGPA in the program) and his capstone project was chosen by a panel as the top master's project amongst his cohort.
Jamal Nazari, who supervised Des Rosiers鈥 master鈥檚 work, has high praise for Des Rosiers, his work and the impact it has in the real world.
Says Nazari, 鈥淚t is rare to encounter a student who so seamlessly integrates academic achievement, industry leadership, and service to the academic community. Chris Des Rosiers is not only an exceptional scholar but also a role model whose contributions have left an indelible mark on our program.鈥

Says Des Rosiers, 鈥淚t鈥檚 an honor to be awarded the Dean鈥檚 medal. Jamal and the rest of the executive education team put a tremendous amount of work into crafting a program for working professionals that while challenging as a young parent was equally rewarding. I鈥檇 also like to thank my partners and the leadership team at KPMG for supporting me through my academic journey as well as my wife, without whose support this would not have been possible.鈥
Des Rosiers continues his work at KPMG Canada, where he is applying what he learned in the program and through the implementation of his project to inform is role as a leader of audit innovation.
