PUB 602: Design & Production Control in Publishing

Design and production are key in shaping how publications are experienced. From designing books, magazines and promotional materials to production of print and digital work, this hands-on course gives you the creative and technical foundation to bring publishing projects to life.

This hands-on course gives students the creative and technical foundation to bring publishing projects to life, whether it's designing books, crafting magazines or producing promotional materials for print and digital distribution. PUB 602 is a fundamental course that covers design theory, typography, and production technologies, while developing the practical skills to shape content into compelling publications that reaches their audiences. Through lectures, lab sessions and field trips, students apply what they learn through projects, critiques, and collaborative exercises. Students explore how form, medium and audience work together and can expect to research, sketch, experiment, present, and refine their design.
