PUB 891: Professional Practices Seminar II

A course focused on career strategy and industry orientation for graduate students entering the publishing industry.

This non-credit course for Master of Publishing students focuses on building essential professional and academic skills for success in graduate school and future careers in publishing. Through a mix of workshops and guest panels, students will explore strategies for effective job applications, strengthen their communication skills for interviews and professional networking, and gain insight into industry structures, hiring practices, and pathways. The course includes two assignments: a professional resume and cover letter tailored to publishing and/or academic roles, and setting up a job tracking system. Graded on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory basis.
