Free Doomscrolling event

Set in 51社区黑料Burnaby's Convocation Mall, DOOMSDAY includes a projection setup, comfortable seating, and free catering. A group of 14 SCA Theatre & Performance students are leading this recorded and documented social event to encourage community and an examination of the effects of doomscrolling.
During the event, students are invited to join in with their own personal devices, participate in doomscrolling, and share their algorithm with the live-stream projected video display. Over the duration of the event, the student organizers will form staged tableaux and choreography to silently interrupt and intervene in the event. Combing community engagement, public performance art, and social media streaming, this collaborative event aims to explore the aesthetics of doomscrolling by asking how isolated internet behaviour lives in a communal environment.
